THE ripple caused by young swimmers from Tynedale have been felt further afield.
For members of Tynedale Swimming Club have done the club proud outside the district, the small Hexham-based club enjoying numerous successes in recent weeks.
Hot prospect David Cumberlidge again led the way, and he will again represent British Swimming in the World University Games, in Chinese Taipei, in August.
Hexham born-and-bred, the 19-year-old is currently studying at Herriot Watt University, in Edinburgh, and continued to impress national selectors after making an appearance in the British Swimming Championships, in Sheffield, last month. Last summer, Cumberlidge won bronze at the European Universities Games in Croatia, which he quickly followed up with gold in the men’s open 50m frontcrawl race at the British Summer Swimming Championships.
